What do we know?
We spent 3 weeks studying the Cold War. Now we need to look at what else happened at the beginning of that era. In doing so, we will be able to understand how the 50's led to the rebellions of the 60's.
Activity
We will be reading a chapter out of a book called America Dreaming.
1) Get into groups and everyone grab the same color marker
2) Read the following pages from this chapter:

3) As you read, use your maker to jot down anything that answers these questions. . . .
- What is the main idea of these sections?
- What other big ideas are you connected with?
- What causes, effects and impact on society did the 1960's social rebellions have on America?
- What causes people to rebel against society?
- What is conformity? Why were people board?
- What were teenagers into? What did they get involved in?
- What did the people living in the period experience?
4) When everyone is done, discuss the chapter and the things you wrote down
5) Rotate to the next group and jot down anything your group thinks is important that the other group might have missed
6) Rotate to the next group and repeat the process above. Continue this till you have visited every group's piece of paper
