Presidents
The President. When people think of the United States and its leader, they usually think of the president. During their term, the president is the face of the country internationally and domestically. He gets praised when things are going well such as a boom in the economy. He also gets blamed for things, even when that event is out of their control like the Great Depression. So how much influcence does a president actually have during their term? How can he/she shape the future?
Project
In order to get a sense of the role of the president and what effects their decisions you will work in a group to analyze the influence of each president on the US and the world. Each group will research the president’s response to Social, Domestic, Economic and Foreign Affairs issues.
When you research each issue, you want to focus on…
- What was the cause or background? i.e. why did the President do what he did?
- What was it - what did the president do? i.e. explain it to someone who doesn’t know
- How did the president’s action influence the US? i.e. did the president’s action affect the US and world positively, or did it flop?
Your task will then be to evaluate your president as a whole.
- A compiled rating of 5 stars
- Each category will have a score out of 5
- Add them up and divide by 4
- Rationale
- You must complete a 3-5 sentence paragraph on why you rated the president like that.
- You do not need to go into specific details, but need to provide an overall summary
You are then to create a poster presenting your research. It must include the following:
